Suzani is an embroidered and decorative tribal textile made in Tajikistan, India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and other Central Asian countries featuring one-of-a-kind embroidered patterns with beautiful colors. The term Suzani comes from the Persian word “suzan,” meaning needle. In Iran, the art of making such textiles is called Suzandozi (needlework). Traditionally, Suzanis were made by Central Asian brides as part of their dowry and presented to the groom on the wedding day.
